From Provider to Business Owner: What I’m Learning (and What’s Actually Helping)

After nearly 10 years as a physician associate, I can confidently say I’ve found my rhythm in patient care.

But stepping into business ownership?

That’s been a completely different kind of growth.

It’s stretched me in ways I didn’t expect—leading a team, building a culture, making decisions that impact more than just one patient in a room. And if I’m being honest, that transition hasn’t always felt intuitive.

Investing in Leadership (and Why It Matters)

One of the best decisions I’ve made in this phase of my career was hiring a leadership coach, Tammy.

I didn’t want to just “figure it out as I go.”

I wanted to lead well—intentionally.

With her guidance, I’ve been learning how to:

    •    Build and protect a positive team culture

    •    Communicate more effectively

    •    Lead with clarity instead of reacting in the moment

And that work has been foundational to what we’re building at Benway Beauty.

A Full-Circle Moment: Podcast Feature

Recently, I had the opportunity to be a guest on the ShedTalk Raising the Bar podcast—hosted by Tammy alongside Javier.

It felt like a full-circle moment—getting to sit down not just as a mentee, but as a business owner and provider sharing what I’ve been learning.

We talked about a lot, but one topic that really stood out was something I’ve personally leaned into over the past year:

Peptides, Energy, and Real Life as a Busy Mom

If you’ve followed along with me for a while, you know I’ve already shared educational content about peptides—so I won’t go too deep into the science here.

But I do want to share the why behind it for me.

I didn’t start peptides for aesthetics.

I started because I was tired.

Between running a business, seeing patients, and being a mom—I was dealing with:

    •    Brain fog

    •    Low energy

    •    That constant “I’m doing everything but still feel off” feeling

And I wanted to feel better—not just push through it.

What Actually Made a Difference

Peptides have honestly been a game changer for me.

The simplest way I explain them:

They’re short chains of amino acids (the same building blocks that make up proteins) that act like signals in the body—almost like little text messages telling your cells what to do.

One of my personal favorites has been NAD+ support.

It works at the cellular level—specifically within the mitochondria (your cells’ energy centers)—to help support energy production and overall cellular function.

And for me, that’s translated into:

    •    Better mental clarity

    •    More consistent energy

    •    Feeling like myself again

Not wired. Not overstimulated.

Just… clear and capable.

A lot of my athletic and active patients are loving the growth hormone peptides - Sermorelin and Tesamorelin. They have been a game changer for athletic performance and muscle building.

Why This Matters

What I loved about this podcast conversation is that it wasn’t just clinical—it was real.

Both Tammy and Javier have experienced benefits from peptides in their own lives, which made the discussion even more meaningful. It’s one thing to talk about science—it’s another to see how it actually shows up in day-to-day life.

And that’s always my goal at Benway Beauty:

To bridge the gap between science and real, tangible results.

Final Thoughts

This season of life has been about growth in every direction—personally, professionally, and as a leader.

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned:

You don’t have to do it all alone.

And you don’t have to settle for feeling “just okay.”

Go show up as your best self!
